Lancewood principal Kate Lance has been building websites since the 1990s. She started working in Internet technology in the late 1980s and was System Manager and Director of Internet Services at the ISP Connect in the late 1990s. She was ED of the Internet Society of Australia, and Communications Manager and CEO for IPv6Now, Australia's only dedicated IPv6 services and training company.
Kate Lance is also a writer: her two non-fiction maritime books, Redbill and Allan Villiers, have both won literary awards, and her first novel, The Turning Tide, was published by Allen & Unwin in 2014. She publishes fiction through Seabooks Press.
